FROM BRIAN SWANSON, ONE OF THIS YEAR’S STUDENTS:

Hello all! First off I would like to ask that some of you that know anyone that I have promised an email to would forward this so that they can get it because all my contacts are not on this computer. They are on my iPod Touch and that is currently not charged.

Now, on to what I did today. Today my host brother and I went to Hannover and explored for about 7 hours. We went to die Rathaus, up in the tower and looked over ALL of Hannover. It was breath taking. I want to go again, and I am sure I will. Then we went down a lot of alleys and saw A TON of shops, OF COURSE I started shopping. I spent €60, I love that there is no tax. It makes everything easier to add up. I bought me a bag to carry (yes it is a man-bag because over here no one cares). They have them in high end stores and EVERY guy is carrying some sort of bag. It's amazing, now I can have EVERYTHING I need without worrying about not having enough pockets. My host brother Wilke speaks to me in English, and I speak to him in German, we worked out a thing for now so that I can understand him without getting lost for the first few weeks. Because he is like me, he speaks very fast and I just get lost and shut off from everything, So I am helping his grade in English for school and he is helping my career for life. :) Perfect! Then later we went to H&M, it is a HUGE store here, sehr billig (very cheap) und auch sehr chic (and also very fashionable). I love it. I can't wait to have money and actually buy clothes! OH! I love how they say clothes....they pronounce the 创th创 sound as in 创the创 and add 创is创 at the end. It cracks me up every time. Then later we went to a different store, it was huge by the way, and I bought chocolate and some envelopes and briefkarte (letter cards). And I also figured out it costs here to use a restroom. Weird...at least for me. Then we to Kr鰌elin. It is a popular meeting place. It is this clock in the middle of a square that all these people are just waiting by, I asked my host brother (Wilke) and he said that germans just say 碝eet me by Kr鰌elin. and they will know exactly what you mean. Then we came home, now just expand that to about 7 hours and you have my day. :)
